This civil war soldier tintype was at one time cut into an oval to fit a 1/4 plate case, in which it tends to slide in the case unless displayed. (I sell photographs in original as found condition.). The tintype has some ripples. The clarity is wonderful and it is very showy. It is interesting that he is so chunky. He must have stayed close to the food tent. The case has wear and a taped repaired edge.
It is a very nice example of a Civil War soldier.
